Treatments and processes

Pennaire Filtration has experience in many key sectors, including petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, and specialty and inorganic chemical processing. These chemical processes often involve drying, milling and calcination.

Chemical process drying removes moisture or solvents from solids, powders or slurries using heat transfer – convection, conduction and radiation. It enhances stability, prevents microbial growth, reduces transportation weight and meets quality standards for fine chemicals and pharmaceutical products.

Dry milling is a manufacturing process that is typically used for creating powders and granules, for example in the manufacture of pharmaceuticals, and in the preparation of certain foods. During the dry milling process, raw materials are ground, crushed or broken down into smaller particles.

A calciner is an industrial reactor, kiln or furnace designed to heat material and calcination is a thermal treatment, where the solid compound is raised to high temperature without melting with a restricted supply of oxygen.

Cyclonic Product Collectors, or Cyclones, are specialised units designed to remove large volumes of solids from airstreams with high particle loads. They’re often used for product recovery and in conjunction with pneumatic conveying systems.

WIP/CIP Filters (Wash-in-Place/Clean-in-Place) are hygienic filtration designs made specifically for the pharmaceutical and chemical industries, to allow the safe, automated cleaning of the filter unit.

HEPA Filters are used for high-efficiency, final-stage filtration on the exhaust side of collectors, with options for ‘safe change’, to minimise the operator’s exposure to hazardous dust.

Silo Vent Filters are insertable or flange-mounted units designed for nuisance dust control at transfer points, mixers and storage silos, while bespoke containment is custom-designed extraction hoods to capture the dust at source.
