Existing Filtration Problems. In today’s competitive world of processing, the demand to meet customer deadlines and to maximise profits can mean that equipment is often kept running at full capacity, and sometimes beyond. As a consequence product collection or dust control filters tend to receive the least routine attention because often being at the end of a system, they can be tucked away out of sight or on top of the highest silo. Yet filtration systems can have a profoundly detrimental effect on the operation of the plant if not checked, cleaned and changed regularly.

New Filtration Problems. New filter media may not always increase efficiency but can cause problems if installed without the correct engineering adjustments to the rest of the system. There are many instances where simple adjustments to other parts of a system, or the identification of a separate, upstream maintenance requirement, can avoid the unnecessary expense of replacing filter media.

With a proper understanding of the full engineering requirements, engineers can retrofit many modern filtration products to older systems: this includes clean-side bag removal (for cleaner change outs and reduced operator exposure); Pleated elements or cartridges (to give increased filter area without the need for a larger casing); quick-release bag fixings (for faster change outs).
